ANN ARBOR CHARTER TOWNSHIP A public hearing on M-14/Barton Drive access issues was called to order by Supervisor Langford at 7:32 p.m. Several residents of Barton Hills Village and Ann Arbor Township spoke against the closing of the ramps, including John & Cheryl MacKrell who stated they were opposed to the closing and gave several suggestions as to better signage and longer entrance ramps. Public hearing closed at 7:46 p.m. The regular monthly meeting of the Ann Arbor Charter Township Board of Trustees was called to order by Supervisor Langford at 7:46 p.m. at the Township Hall, 3792 Pontiac Trail, Ann Arbor, Michigan 48105. Present: Supervisor Elizabeth Langford, Clerk Catherine Braun, Treasurer Virginia Forshee, Trustees Della DiPietro and Michael Moran. Also present Attorney Sandra Sorini, Engineer Roger Gaugler and Fire Chief Rick Ericson. Absent Trustees Richard Dieterle and John Allison. Citizen Participation: No one spoke during citizen participation. May 20, 2002 Minutes: DiPietro moved approval of the May 20, 2002 minutes with the following corrections Page 4, Fire & Safety, change last sentence to read "Personnel Committee will meet on June 4 from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. before the Special Board Meeting to discuss matters relating to fire department staffing". Page 4, Non-Agenda items change third paragraph to read:" DiPietro questioned property for sale signs being taken down by township personnel and if property owners are notified when they are being removed". M-14/Barton Drive: DiPietro moved approval of the Resolution in Support
of Keeping Open M-14/Barton Drive Entrance / Exit Ramps. Forshee supported.
AWCT Tax Abatement: the spokesman for AWCT stated that the company did not receive approval of the MEGA grant but is till requesting a 2-year abatement from the Township based on the need for $1,800,000 for new equipment and adding at least 3 new employees. Moran stated the basis for his support of the abatement is a significant investment in new equipment that will add to their business, and even though it will not bring in 25 new employees, will bring in some. Moran moved to grant a two year, 50% abatement for the $1,800,000 in new equipment and to authorize the Supervisor to sign the abatement Agreement. DiPietro supported and motion carried. Washtenaw
"Urban County" DiPietro moved approval of Resolution to participate
in Washtenaw County's Urban County Community Development Block Grant (CDBG)
programs for the years 2003, 2004 and 2005 with no commitment for automatic
3-year renewal. Braun supported MTA Dues 2002-2003 Moran moved approval of the payment of dues to Michigan Township Association of $4,573.00 and $274.38 Legal Defense fund for a total payment of $4,847.38. Forshee supported and motion carried. Claims Listing: Moran moved approval of June 3, 2002 claims listing in amount of $56,527.45 and June 13, 2002 claims listing for $43,771.91. DiPietro supported and motion carried. Fire and Safety: Chief Ericson reported the Fire & Safety Committee will meet in July. Planning Commission Meeting: Moran reported for the June 3, 2002 Planning Commission meeting. Non Agenda Items: DiPietro reported that the newsletter would be sent this week. Public Comment: Don Oswell, 2150 Warren Road read his letter (a copy of which he will furnish board members) in reference to his property and the zoning. Moran moved to adjourn, DiPietro supported.
