NOTICE TO OWNERS OF HOMES OFFERED FOR RENT

Ann Arbor Township has adopted Ordinance No. 3-2009, a property maintenance code, which requires the registration, inspection, and certification of all single and multi family structures or premises which are rented by a person other than the owner of the structure. The ordinance can be found at www.aatwp.org/ordinances.htm under Other Recent Ordinances or at the Township offices. In accordance with the ordinance, registration of a residential rental structure shall be completed within 15 days of notification. If you are the owner of a rental home, please complete the Rental Registration Form, which is available at www.aatwp.org/permits.htm under Building Permit Forms or at the Township offices, within 15 days of this notice. Public Notice: On June 15, 2009 the Ann Arbor Charter Township Board of Trustees approved the 2nd reading of an ordinance amendment adding Chapter 14 Article IV Property Maintenance to the Ann Arbor Charter Township Code of Ordinances. The ordinance adopts the International Property Maintenance Code in order to protect life and property in the Township by regulating the condition and maintenance of residential rental structures and by providing standards and requirements for utilities, facilities and physical conditions to ensure rentals are safe, sanitary and fit for occupation. The ordinance provides for issuance of permits, collection of fees and registrations, and inspections. Public Notice: On May 18, 2009 the Ann Arbor Charter Township Board of Trustees approved an ordinance amendment to Section 48 - 27(d) of Article II of Ordinance Chapter 48 - Farmland and Open Space Preservation Board. The amendment allows compensation to the preservation board members by resolution of the Township Board of Trustees. The ordinance is effective June 1, 2009.
